Why The Self-Help S*&t Finally Makes Sense…

Dear Life Passion Creators

Not sure where you’re at right now, but I would love to find out…

You might be at the start of something or contemplating taking a Leap in a particular direction, you might be the type that keeps starting and then stalling or maybe even having a mini meltdown because things are just not quite going your way…

Or…

You might be none of the above. You might be diligently doing the work, actively putting things in place so they can work, you have a few highlights, but they’re just not consistent enough yet.

Since making a decision a few years back to drastically change direction in my life, there was one thing I promised myself I wouldn’t do. No matter how hard and how bad things got, there was one thing that was a major non negotiable. I was not going back to my old life. That feeling had cemented itself so firmly in my being, that when it came time to leave my old life, I left kicking and screaming because I was terrified that things weren’t going to work out.

I’ve always been an avid reader, but, being out in the emotional wilderness, I needed to mentally armour myself in the right way. So, I found myself diving head first into the non-fiction section and devouring everything on the topic of personal development and entrepreneurship. From Richard Branson’s Losing My Virginity to Napoleon Hill’s Think & Grow Rich. There was a heap more in-between, like Marianne Williamson’s A Return To Love, Mike Dooley’s Leveraging The Universe and Jen Sincero’s You Are A Badass. My bedside table was (and still is) an overflowing pile of books mounting one on top of the other.

What’s the point of all this?

When you are undergoing change, things happen, the mechanics of the brain need a hard rewiring and your past conditioning which has been stubbornly set in place, struggles to budge. The material you read takes time to be digested and for the brain to actively absorb and invite some new changes to fall into place. There’s a heap of resistance and the effort to change past limiting beliefs is a tricky one. That’s why, months might pass and you feel that nothing is working.

Then, suddenly, it’s like a switch goes off and that hard rewiring finally makes a new connection. Here’s a little something I’ve learnt about Breakthroughs, regardless of whether it’s your Personal life, Creative life or Professional life…

They happen when you least expect them, they are happening when you think everything is stagnant and nothing’s moving and they are most apparent when you’ve come face-to-face with the very thing you were being challenged by and realise you have came out the other end, completely unscathed…

Breakthroughs are doing their best work during your hardest time. When you’re in the fog and the lights are dim…When everything around you is NOT going according to plan. So long as you continue to do the work, the Breakthrough is right there beside you and you notice its presence instantly, the minute things finally fall into place.

Don’t underestimate its efforts and effect. The more you work, the harder it works for you…and suddenly those realisations come at you,  full steam ahead and the time spent on the doing is rewarded by that sudden sense that hits you and every cell in your entire being knows it has just been reset…

It’s a hard thing to grasp and sometimes it just doesn’t make sense, but the phases you need to go through are presented exactly when you are ready to receive them and everything that unfolds, both good and bad, is set to give you the greatest breakthrough possible…

For those of you who need some spark in your life, want to connect with you passion, feel inspired and are trying to breakthrough and have that wiring reset, I’d love to connect with you. Email me: paula@mediterraneanwanderer.com for a chat…
