Dear Inspiring Creatives,
I use the word Inspiring for two reasons. Firstly because YOU make up this incredibly rich community of Mediterranean Wanderers that I have the privilege to connect with…Secondly because those connections, as a result of my work – who you are, the stories you share with me from the countless emails I receive and the depth of heart with which that communication between us happens, is something I am so grateful for and has me in absolute awe of you.
What I am reminded of constantly is HOW CLOSE I CAME TO MISSING OUT ON MAKING THIS HAPPEN…
For those of you in the midst of change right now, or contemplating stepping into it, there’s one valuable lesson I have learnt as a result of navigating change, and that is, that when you are facing that turning point, when things are ready to catapult and thrust you into change,one very interesting thing happens. There is an internal conflict and push/pull that happens inside you and it is this resistance between your old life and new life fighting it out when we are navigating new terrain.
Your new self is trying to pull you forward to move ahead, and your old self is trying to keep you back to stay the same…
When I was on the brink of change, this happened to me. Not once, but twice.
I remember distinctly that internal fight. It felt like my old life held me by its clutches and was sucking me back in, while the new life was desperately trying to show me the light, despite that fact it felt like only a marginal crack was spilling in…
Letting go of the past – relationships, jobs, environment, career change, deaths in the family – or if you’re like me, then all of the above, makes you feel like you’re navigating this new territory with one foot in and one foot out. My past and present were colliding and I was being pulled in both directions – the path of my past and the new beginnings of my future…
Luckily, the Future Me won– and I am so deeply grateful for that experience and lesson and all it served to teach me and where it took me. Because right now, it has me communicating with YOU and next week, it is taking me travelling interstate and just a few weeks back it had me taking 9 fabulous women on a private Culinary Feast and just before that it led me to work for an entire month in the beautiful islands of Greece…But mostly, it is because of the fact I get to do what I love each and every day. And winning that that fight has gifted me the greatest reward of all…
Wherever you’re at – KEEP GOING! I promise that crack of light will open up and come flooding through…
